Description: The Permanent Station Mark (PSM) layer represents the main horizontal and vertical survey control stations established on each island of the Maldives. The horizontal coordinates (Easting and Northing) of the first PSM on an island are determined, where possible, relative to the Malé IGS Station using GNSS relative positioning techniques. If relative positioning is not possible, single-point GNSS observations of more than six hours duration are conducted. The vertical coordinate (height) of the first PSM is related to Mean Sea Level (MSL), determined through analysis of local tidal observations in relation to predicted tides from the nearest tide gauge provided by the Department of Meteorology. All coordinates are expressed as northing values.
