Service Description: This map was created with the purpose of obtaining more insight into the relocation of the town of Valmeyer, IL in order to mitigate its risk from flooding in the Mississippi River floodplain. It contains spatial data for both Old Valmeyer and New Valmeyer, where the new parcels of land in New Valmeyer were assessed for their slope and elevation characteristics. It depicts a graduated color scheme of mean elevation for each parcel of land in New Valmeyer, and contains a table that provides the associated minimum, maximum, and mean slope and elevation data for each parcel. Also, the roadways within New Valmeyer were digitized, as the county needs a rough sense of where the roads are for routing emergency vehicles.
This map was created utilizing ArcGIS Pro and then shared as a web map via ArcGIS Online.
