Description: This map contains a represent the extent to which each county in California has been impacted by wildfires in terms of acreage burned, grouped by the percentage of total area by which each county was impacted.The data represented was calculated by intersecting CAL FIRE's burn map (for 2012-2022) with a data describing CA county boundaries from California State Board of Equalization. All data was obtained from the UCDavis 'Fundamentals of GIS' course.From the intersection of these data sets, the total acreage burned in each county was used alongside each county's total area to compute the percentage burned acreage for each county.This map was assembled by Nicholas Sedney.
