Description: Airports for Canada were compiled from the Canada Flight Supplement, National Airport System, and Canada Statistics data sets. The Canada Flight Supplement only includes aerodromes with facilities for land-based fixed wing aircraft; heliports and water aerodromes are not included. Two airports from France are included. They are found on the French territory of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon just off the island of Newfoundland.
Three airports cross the Canada-US boundary. They are Piney (Piney Pinecreek Border) Airport, Avey Field State (Laurier) Airport and Dunseith (International Peace Garden) Airport. The latitude and longitude used for these airports indicates the part of the facility that lies in Canadian territory. These airports do not have ICAO or IATA location codes; they are identified using their US FAA Location Identifier (FAA LID) as it appears in NAV Canada's Canada Flight Supplement.
Data for Mexico were compiled from the MX Airports data set. Minor edits were
completed by INEGI and by the CEC.
The USA source data represent an unpublished update to the National Atlas Airports data for the United States.
