Description: The North Atlantic Coast Comprehensive Study (NACCS) simulated 1,050 storms using the
Advanced Circulation Model (ADCIRC) for currents and the Steady State Spectral Wave (STWAVE)
model for waves. Subsequently, coupled model results were applied to a grid with approximately
19,000 save points. Researchers with the US Army Corps of Engineer Research and Development
Center, Coastal Hydraulics Laboratory, Navigation Division, Coastal Engineering Branch
(CEERD‑HNC) realized the benefit of applying the Sediment Mobility Tool (SMT)—formerly
referred to as the Depth of Closure web application viewer—on NACCS data points after
running the tool on two different data points near Milford, Connecticut.
