Description: La capa de Cantones del Ecuador se basa en la información oficial del INEC, que define la estructura territorial del país conforme al Clasificador Geográfico Estadístico del Ecuador. Los cantones son la segunda división político-administrativa del Ecuador y forman parte de la organización territorial descrita en el artículo 242 de la Constitución de la República del Ecuador, que establece al Estado como organizado en regiones, provincias, cantones y parroquias urbanas y rurales.El marco normativo que regula la delimitación y actualización de los cantones está sustentado en la Ley de Fijación de Límites Territoriales Internos, publicada en el Registro Oficial Nro. 934 el 16 de abril de 2013. Esta ley asigna al Comité Nacional de Límites Internos la responsabilidad de mantener actualizada la División Político Administrativa (DPA).Esta capa refleja la delimitación cantonal basada en la información oficial más reciente disponible del INEC (hasta 2012). Es ampliamente utilizada en estudios de desarrollo local, análisis socioeconómicos, planificación territorial y gestión de recursos en el contexto cantonal del Ecuador.
