Development contributions are fees charged for new developments that help fund the necessary facilities and infrastructure to support the growth of the district.
We charge development contribution fees for projects such as new houses, granny flats, commercial developments and subdivisions. These fees help to provide new or upgraded infrastructure for water, wastewater, stormwater, transport services and reserves.
During the processing of your building consent or resource consent application, in particular subdivision applications, we undertake an assessment to work out the amount you need to pay. The fees are calculated based on the type of your development, the location and the number of household equivalent units (HEUs) created by the development.
Our Development Contributions Policy provides information on when development contributions are required and how they are assessed and calculated.
Please see the policy for more information.
