Service Description: This is the sampling grid for the Alaska Bee Atlas. Participants use this web map to determine if the region they will be sampling has a need for new bee collections. Known records of bees are summarized into >5,000 sq km hexagons. The number of known records indicates the priority of where new samples should be recorded from. Those hexagons with no samples are higher in priority compared to hexagons with thousands of records. The priority grid is broken into the five categories.
Highest Priority (0 bees collected)
High Priority (1-2 bees collected)
Medium Priority (3-10 bees collected)
Low Priority (11-21 bees collected)
Lowest priority (22-9609 bees collected)
Alaska Bee Atlas participants use this web map and click on a hexagon to identify a grid identification number.
