Description: These layers represent the inundation boundaries for hypothetical failures for each of TVA’s dams. The red layer represents the inundation for failure at the peak of the Probable Maximum Flood (PMF)MethodsInitial pool levels were taken as summer pool. Inflows for the river system were sourced from the most current TVA PMF calculations. Hydraulic geometry was created based on existing models and GIS data. Dam geometry was sourced from TVA drawings. Custom reservoir operation rules were created in HEC-RAS. Failure geometries were created based on FERC guidance. HEC-RAS runs were performed for every scenario and RAS-Mapper was used to create inundation boundaries and travel times. Note: The flooded areas shown on this map were developed for the use in evacuation planning for the unlikely event of a PMF flood and/or a dam failure.
