ESRI ArcCatalog 9.3.1.3000 File Geodatabase Feature Class Attribute accuracy is tested by manual comparison of the source with hard copy printouts and/or symbolized display of the digital field data on an interactive computer graphic system. Attribute information is collected from the legal files of the State Oil & Gas Board of Alabama. Attribute tables are created in MicroSoft Excel and joined to shapefiles using ESRI ArcInfo software. The OGB checks all entities and their attribute data for compliance with FDGC data standards. These checks do not ensure that data accurately reflects conditions in the field only that the attributes meet database design specifications. 100% Attributes for each field were compared with data on file with the State Oil and Gas Board of Alabama. However, inconsistencies could exist in data submitted to OGB by companies. Data for each field is represented by U.S. surveyed locations of the boundaries with units in feet. The State Oil & Gas Board of Alabama (OGB) is responsible for ensuring 1) that all geospatial data are complete and correctly projected to the proper geodetic datum, 2) that the attribute data are compliant with the OGB data standards. However, inconsistencies could exist in data submitted to OGB by companies. Logical consistency of OGB data cannot be guaranteed. Digital polygon shapefile of "Field Boundaries in Alabama's Applachian Region" is believed to be complete. OGB verifies each data set to ensure that all include the geospatial and attribute data, and metadata. Horizontal positional accuracy for the digital data is tested by visual comparison of the source with media stable hard copy plots. Data used to generate the shapefile are obtained from survey plats and as-built drawings filed with the State Oil and Gas Board of Alabama (OGB). Horizontal accuracy of these data can only be as accurate as the surveyed locations submitted by the operator to the OGB. 95% Horizontal accuracy is only as good as the surveyed locations submitted by the operator to the State Oil & Gas Board of Alabama. Locations are compared with media stable hard copy base maps.
