Description: This database describes North American installed renewable energy capacity, in megawatts, as of 2003. Capacity is reported by state, province, or territory. Included are biomass, geothermal, hydropower, solar, and wind energy.
The North American Renewable Energy Database (NARED) was developed by the Helios Centre (http://www.centrehelios.org/en/) for the Commission on Environmental Cooperation and Environment Canada. Three databases, one for each North American country, were combined into the final database. The Mexican segment was prepared by Energy Matters, the United States segment was prepared by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) using the Renewable Energy Plant Information System (REPiS), and the Canadian segment was developed by the Helios Centre.
Information at the individual power plant level that underlies these aggregate data is available from the individual country databases.
