The location of active faults mapped as part of a project to define Fault Awareness and Fault Avoidance Zones in Taupō District.

Surface fault rupture is the permanent breaking, ripping, buckling or warping of the ground on or near the line where a fault meets the ground surface, as a result of movement on the fault. It is different from earthquake shaking.</span></p><p style='margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:1.5rem; font-family:"Avenir Next W01", "Avenir Next W00", "Avenir Next", Avenir, "Helvetica Neue", sans-serif; font-size:16px;'><span style='font-family:inherit;'>This file contains fault mapping used to construct Fault Awareness Areas and Fault Avoidance Zones for active faults outside of Taupō</span><span style='font-family:inherit;'><span style='font-family:inherit;'>District Council LiDAR areas in the Taupō</span><span style='font-family:inherit;'><span style='font-family:inherit;'>District (</span><span style='font-family:inherit;'>Litchfield et al. 2020</span><span style='font-family:inherit;'>).
